February will begin with Scouts continuing to work on Emergency Preparedness. Scouts can apply the skills learned to rank advancement, the Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge, and the Emergency Preparedness BSA Award.
“Scouts are often called upon to help because they know first aid and they know about the discipline and planning needed to react to an emergency situation. Earning this merit badge helps a Scout to be prepared by learning the actions that can be helpful and needed before, during, and after an emergency.”
Thursday, February 1: Troop Meeting; Merit Badge College Registration Opens (MBC Registration)

Scouts will continue working on their Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge. Scouts should bring their Merit Badge Workbooks, handbooks, pen/pencil, and paper. Scouts should also bring the checklist required for the Merit Badge that they received at last week’s meeting.
-
Scouts will have the opportunity to interview ASM Mr. Carl Berkowitz, who is the Immediate Past President of the RCLS Board of Trustees, about the Constitutional Rights and Responsibilities of U.S. Citizens. This can fulfill First Class Requirement 9(a) so Scouts must come prepared with questions to ask Mr. Berkowitz if they would like this requirement signed off on.

Starting this week, Scouts will be reciting the Outdoor Code as part of the opening and closing of Troop meetings. The Outdoor Code can be found in your Scout Handbook, as well as on one of the flashcards on the Troop bulletin board.
