Greetings from Camp!

Greetings from Camp!

On Sunday morning, just a touch behind schedule, the Scouts and Scouters of Troop 169 departed for Camp Read.  It would appear that the shrink-wrap method of packing did, in fact, keep the Scouts’ gear dry (phew!).  Although given the rain reports from Brant Lake it may not have mattered.  Check out the updates from our fearless leader below.  And for your entertainment – check out our Facebook page for videos of our Scouts singing, working the COPE course, and the pie eating contest.  You can also participate in the always popular “Whose tent is it?” game.  Mr. Fedina threw us a bone by taking those pictures so early in the week.  Let’s hope he doesn’t play round two on Friday.
Day 34…..water supply is low but morale is high that rescue is near…….
Just kidding. First morning of camp. Sitting at the mess hall having a tea this morning (the milk isn’t out yet….now it is…) and this is my first post.
No one disrupted my sleep last night except myself. Always have an issue with the first night comfort. It did pour during the night so I should hear which boys didn’t have their tents closed up correctly or which ones need a little duct tape.
Dinner was chicken parmesan. I enjoyed it. Some boys didn’t but they wouldn’t know good food anyway so….
Here’s a video of last night’s song.
Enjoy Monday y’all

Day 133 of our banishment from electrical items and air conditioning…..and dry places….
Rain was a constant factor yesterday. Of course some of the boys left their rain gear at the site. Pancakes was breakfast, sloppy Joe’s for lunch, and Swedish meatballs for dinner.
Went up to summit base to do a team building exercise that I scheduled them for called low cope. It was entertaining for us leaders to watch them attempt to do simple tasks but each one kept doing their own thing which wasn’t working very well. In the end they realized they needed to come up with a plan first the execute the plan….then throw the plan away and come up with another.
Today (don’t curse it) might actually be a somewhat decent day.
Enjoy Tuesday and here’s some video of low cope last night.
