Summer Update

Summer Update

Summer Meetings:  This summer we will be focusing on rank advancement opportunities as well as merit badges.  In order to effectively plan meetings for rank advancement, we need all scouts (up to Star) to update their information in Scoutbook.  All Scouts’ current ranks should already be entered.  Scouts should enter what rank advancement requirements they have completed towards their next rank.  You should have received an invitation to join Scoutbook and link to your Scout’s already existing account.  For Scout’s that have their own email account, please email me at LisaTroop169@gmail.com and I will generate an invite for that email address.  Scoutbook is a work in progress for our Troop so please bear with me as we work out the kinks.

Once all Scouts have their current rank advancement requirements entered into Scoutbook we can run a report that will show what all Scouts still need to work on.  This way, the adult leaders and patrol leaders can plan meetings that will address outstanding rank advancement requirements.

Once a summer schedule is worked out it will be emailed to you and posted on this website.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Hike: 6/24/17:  Meet at the Church at 9:00 a.m.  Be sure to bring water and snacks; wear sunscreen and bug repellent; and everything else you need for a 5+ mile hike.  Be sure to let Mr. Fedina know if you are coming so that he can contact you in case of inclement weather.  Only those RSVP’ing to Mr. Fedina will be notified of any changes in plans.

From our fearless leader:  In a discussion with Mr Ruiz we were able to come up with a date for a nice hike in the Neversink Gorge Recreational Area (outside of Rock Hill, NY).  Below is the map and we would be starting on the yellow trail (near the grey “P” parking area where it says “Wolf Brook Multiple Use Area”) which then turns into the red trail and goes towards Mullett Falls. We would take the small yellow trail to the falls, take pics, enjoys the falls, etc, and then get back on the red trail till it meets with the blue trail. We will make a right on the blue trail and then take the second yellow trail down to the Neversink River for lunch. Then we will get back to the blue trail and make a left to go to the red trail (Mullett Loop Trail) to go back towards the parking area.

Why did I tell you what the trails were that we would be taking?? I know why and probably Mr Ruiz knows why, though my thought pattern differs from his at times…..but your job is to figure out why I am stating why I told you the route. There are two answers that I am thinking.  Come prepared to discuss your answers.  (Hint: read your handbook!)
